NOVEMBER CHALLENGE 🖤
Bonjour my little demon, ready to collect gem #07?
Whether you just joined or have been here from the beginning, thank you so much for reading.
TODAY’S GEM
Today, I’m sharing the lesson I struggle with the most: quantity.
To get better at drawing, you need to draw. Seems obvious, right? Yet, many of us still don’t draw enough—or don’t do it the right way.
For years, I spent hours perfecting a single drawing, aiming for flawless detail. But when you put ten hours into just one piece, you miss the chance to explore, take risks, and learn from mistakes. I was stuck, too afraid to fail, and my progress slowed.
The truth? A dozen 10-minute sketches will teach you far more than a single drawing you labor over for 100 hours. Quick studies force you to capture the essence without getting lost in perfection. Most importantly, they keep you creating, always moving forward.
So, experiment. Make mistakes. Try new tools. Fill your sketchbook with fast, fearless drawings, and real progress will follow.
What portrait topic would you like me to cover next?
Bisous,
Léa
