NOVEMBER CHALLENGE 🖤
Bonjour my little demon, ready to another game-changing portrait lesson?
We are 18,912 😈 in the Portrait Gem Hunt! Whether you just joined or have been here from the beginning, thank you so much for reading.
TODAY'S GEM
For a long time, I let social media get to me.
I’d scroll endlessly, comparing my work to others and convincing myself I’d never measure up.
The result? Art block.
The pressure to be perfect drained all the joy from creating. But one day, I did something unexpected.
I scrolled to the very beginning of an artist’s profile.
And there it was—their rough beginnings. Wobbly lines, awkward compositions, and experiments that didn’t quite work. It hit me: even the best start somewhere.
Scrolling through their early work taught me two truths:
👉 Every artist has to suck before they shine. Mistakes aren’t optional; they’re essential.
👉 The polished art we admire today is the result of years of practice, patience, and dedication.
This shifted everything. Instead of feeling ashamed of my mistakes, I started to see them as part of the process.
Day-to-day progress might feel invisible, but over time, it’s transformative.
So next time you feel stuck comparing yourself, scroll down through your favorite artist's profile. You’ll see that growth takes time—no one skips the messy middle, and neither will you.
Voilà, that’s all for today. What topic should I cover tomorrow?
See you tomorrow!
Bisou,
Léa
